
Charlie Tortorici Returns to SHU as Associate AD

Florida grad comes back to SHU after two years at Quinnipiac
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A former member of the Sacred Heart University compliance staff, Charlie Tortorici has returned to the Pioneers. SHU Director of Athletics Judy Ann Riccio announced Tortorici's hiring as associate athletic director for compliance.
Most recently, Tortorici spent the last two years as the assistant athletic director for compliance at Quinnipiac University. Included in his extensive number of responsibilities was managing athletic scholarships, verifying eligibility and providing rules education. In addition, he educated student-athletes on Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) legislation.
"I would like to thank Judy Ann Riccio and Tammy Petrucelli for this great opportunity to return to Sacred Heart University," Tortorici said. "Judy Ann's vision for the athletic department is unmatched, and I am excited to return and be a part of the future of Sacred Heart Athletics."
Previously Tortorici served as SHU's director of compliance from August 2018 to January 2020. He provided education and guidance on all NCAA bylaws and regulations to coaches, student-athletes, and staff members as well as monitored NCAA bylaws in the athletic department related to recruiting and playing seasons. During his second year with the Pioneers, Tortorici served as the sport administrator for the men's and women's golf team.
Tortorici got his start in college athletics at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside as a compliance and game day operations intern. He went on to be the compliance coordinator at Oakland University before joining the Pioneers.
He earned his bachelor's degree in sports management from the University of Florida in 2013. Tortorici added a juris doctor from Marquette University in 2017.
