Pioneers Host Hartford in Final Non-Conference Game

FAIRFIELD, Conn.-- Coming off two straight Northeast Conference wins, Sacred Heart men's basketball hosts Hartford on Saturday afternoon in one final non-conference game. Opening tip is set for 2:00 PM. The Pioneers are 8-9 overall this season and are 2-1 in conference play, while the Hawks are 4-14 on the season. Sacred Heart won the last meeting between the two teams on November 8th on the road, 77-70 as senior Joey Reilly scored a career-high 23 points.

Opening Tip:
  • This is the second meeting between Sacred Heart and Hartford this season. The Pioneers opened the 2022-23 campaign with a 77-70 road victory at Hartford. Joey Reilly scored a career-high 23 points to lead the Pioneers to its first victory of the season.
  • Four SHU players scored in double figures against Hartford as Reilly led with 23, and Nico Galette had 13. Raheem Solomon (10) and Aidan Carpenter (15) were in double figures in their debut for the Pioneers.
  • Sacred Heart jumps out of conference for one final non-league game after winning its last two NEC games on the road. At LIU 82-64 and at Merrimack 59-55.
  • Galette has scored in double figures in every game this season as he leads the team with 15.4 points per game. Solomon (11.6), and Reilly (10.4) are also averaging double figures for the Pioneers.
  • Johnson has four double-doubles this season, and Galette has two. Johnson leads the team in rebounds, 7.5 per game, and Galette is second with 6.9.
  • The Pioneers had Aidan Carpenter and Brendan McGuire back in the lineup against Stonehill, for the first time together since the season opener at Hartford.
  • This season, Galette earned NEC Player of the Week once and has been a four-time Prime Performer.
  • Head Coach Anthony Latina is in his 10th season as the head coach of Sacred Heart.
  • Galette was named to the All-NEC preseason team.
