Kaiser takes top spot as tetrad of Pios finish in top-20
SAINT ALBANS, Vt. — Angela Kaiser's first-place finish headlined four top-20 finishers for the Pioneers as the Sacred Heart University women's cross country team took third place at the Fall Foliage Invitational on Sunday afternoon.
Kaiser, who took home SHU's lone podium spot, finished the five kilometer course in a season-low 18:13.3, beating Vermont's Caroline Deiss to the finish line by four seconds to earn the gold medal. Kelly Parker finished second for the Pioneers and 15th overall with a season-low 18:56.4, while SHU rounded out the top-20 with Grace DelGiorno and Grace Sousa setting new season-lows coming in at 19th and 20th overall.
Samantha Apostolico had her best team finish this season, coming in fifth for the Pios with a time of 19:25.5, while Kathleen Cronin and Keegan Pepin rounded out the scoring for the Pioneers as the Red & White end the day with a team score of 70 points.
