Zovko Wins Eighth Rookie of the Week Honor

Zovko has won this award in all but one week this season

SOMERSET, N.J. – For the eighth time in nine weeks, Sacred Heart University women's volleyball first year setter Gaby Zovko was named the Northeast Conference (NEC)/Molten Rookie of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
The Pioneers went 1-2 over three challenging matches last week, sweeping LIU and falling to Bryant and FDU. With a split against the two teams that were tied for second in the NEC standings, SHU improved its lead in the conference to 8-1.
Zovko continued to be a jack of all trades for the Pioneers, averaging 7.75 assists, 2.42 digs, 1.92 kills and 0.75 blocks per set over the week. The Bedford, Mass., native kicked off the week with 27 assists, eight digs, seven blocks and six kills in five sets against Bryant on Wednesday. Zovko then racked up 33 assists, 12 digs and eight kills in a near triple-double against FDU on Friday. Finally, she tallied 33 assists, nine kills and nine digs in a sweep of LIU on Saturday, almost posting a triple-double in just three sets.
Sacred Heart returns to the road on Friday, Oct. 27, to play Central Connecticut State University at 5 p.m. New Britain, Conn.
