
SHU Finishes Fifth At NEC Championships

Prestipino takes top spot for Pioneers
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — The Sacred Heart University men's cross country team competed well Northeast Conference (NEC) Cross Country Championships on Saturday morning, finishing fifth.
In the Pios' second trip to Brookville, N.Y. this season, all five scorers bettered their times from their first showing at the course on September 9, for the LIU Fall Festival. Giovanni Prestipino placed first for the Pioneers for the first time this season as part of a trio of top-40 finishers for SHU. Matthew Vene and Michael Mason placed second and third for the Pios, respectively, with graduate student Edward Tristine just missing the top-40, coming in 41st place overall and fourth for the Red & White.
Patrick Curreri, David Parenteau, and Owen Delisle all earned improved times from their initial running in September, pushing SHU to its highest finish at the NEC XC Championships since the 2020 spring season as the Red & White edged out hosts LIU with a score of 164 to earn fifth-place.
