Men's Basketball Travels to Saint Joseph's

The Pioneers are back on the road on Sunday afternoon

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University men's basketball team is back on the road on Sunday, November 26, at Saint Joseph's University at 1:00 PM, in Philadelphia, PA. The Pioneers return to action following a home victory over Binghamton, 89-75 on Tuesday.

LAST TIME OUT:

  • SHU beat Binghamton at home on Tuesday, 89-75.
  • Nico Galette led five players in double figures with 21, also notching his 1,000th career point in the win.
  • Tanner Thomas (16), Joey Reilly (12), Aidan Carpenter (12), and Alex Sobel (11) all scored in double figures in the victory. Sobel tallied a game-high five blocks and a team-high eight rebounds.  
  • Last week, Thomas was named the Northeast Conference Player of the Week.

OPENING TIP:

  • SHU and Saint Joseph's meet for the second time. Last season, SJU won at home, 77-59.
  • Four Pioneers are averaging in double figures: Tanner Thomas (14.7), Galette (13.7), Raheem Solomon (10.7), and Joey Reilly (10.3). Alex Sobel leads the team in rebounds (8.0), and Thomas is second in rebounds with 7.0 rpg.
  • The team voted Galette, Reilly, and Kyle McGee to be captains of the 2023-24 squad.  
  • The Pios were selected first in the Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll. Galette and Reilly were selected to the All-NEC preseason team. Both Galette and Reilly earned All-NEC first and third-team honors last season, respectively.
