Women's Soccer Earns Six CSC All-District Honors

Sextet of Pios recognized for on-field and academic success
FAIRFIELD, Conn. — With success on and off the field, Sacred Heart University women's soccer's Morgan Bovardi, Desiree Crawford, Kelly Medeiros, Maria Nolan, Grace O'Hara and Alexis Sickler have earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors.
After racking up an NEC All-Conference first team selection earlier this fall, Bovardi earns her second postseason accolade after being named to the CSC Academic All-District Team. Bovardi placed second on the team with 20 points on the season, tying for the team lead in goals (8) while earning two multi-goal performances for the first time in her career. The sophomore out of Boxford, Mass., started in every match this season while maintaining a 3.63 GPA studying Sport Management.
Crawford earns her first postseason accolade after a strong showing this season on the field, starting in all but one match for the Pioneers as the Red & White earned their third-consecutive NEC Tournament bid. Crawford earned her lone point of the season in the regular season finale, providing an assist on Bovardi's seventh-minute strike as the Pios won 2-0. In the classroom, the native of Springfield, Mass., earned a perfect 4.0 GPA while pursuing her masters degree in Nursing Education.
After appearing in all 19 matches for the Pioneers this season, Medeiros earns her first postseason award after a strong three-point campaign in 2023. Having appeared as a substitute for a majority of her collegiate career, Mederios was one of three Pioneers to start every match this season, tallying her first collegiate assist and sixth collegiate goal. Mederios kept a 3.71 cumulative GPA this fall while studying Dietetics and Nutrition.
Nolan, a senior out of Granby, Conn., finished fifth on the team in points after tallying a career-high three goals this season, all from the penalty spot. Having been named a captain during the 2023 season, Nolan appeared in all 19 matches while anchoring a SHU backline that accumulated five shutouts. Nolan accrued a 3.79 cumulative GPA while studying Criminal Justice.
O'Hara earns her second postseason accolade after picking up an NEC All-Conference second team selection last month. The native of Pittsford, N.Y., finished tied for the team-lead in goals (8) while leading the team with her second 20-point performance of her career. Having appeared in 18 games this season, O'Hara was named NEC Player of the Week for the week of September 18 after recording seven points across two matches while on a career-long five-match point streak. The junior forward maintained a 3.79 cumulative GPA this fall while studying Exercise Science.
Sickler completed her graduate season in 2023, appearing in 18 games with 17 starts. The native of Shohola, Penn., knotted six shots on the season while finishing second on the team in minutes played (1399) as part of a Pioneer defense that earned five shutouts through the season. Sickler maintained a 3.88 undergraduate cumulative GPA and is pursuing her masters in Nursing Management and Executive Leadership.
