SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Sacred Heart University women's volleyball team clinched a spot in the four-team Northeast Conference (NEC) Women's Volleyball Championship with a sweep of Le Moyne on Saturday afternoon in Syracuse, N.Y.

How It Happened:
SHU controlled the action at the start of the first set, winning 12 of the first 16 points to go up 12-4. The Pios added to its advantage with a 4-0 run later, which was answered by a 3-0 surge by the Dolphins, setting Sacred Heart's lead at 18-10. The Pioneers were quick to respond by taking the final seven points of the set to secure a 25-10 victory.
The Dolphins put the pressure on the Pioneers to begin the second set, taking a 13-4 advantage through 17 points. Le Moyne again reached its set-high lead of nine at the 17-8 mark when the tide began to turn towards Sacred Heart. The Pios started the rally with a 5-0 run, drawing the margin to four, 17-13. Pios then put together an 8-3 surge to take a 21-20 lead. Following some back-and-forth play, SHU secured a 26-24 comeback win by taking the final two points, the last being a
Dominique Felix spike.
Riding the momentum from winning the exciting second set, the Pios hit the ground running in the third, going up 14-4 early on. The frame was highlighted by an outstanding 11-0 run by the visitors, with
Hunter Coppola serving and tallying three aces. The Pioneers held firm from there, earning a convincing 25-13 win to seal the NEC sweep.
Felix led the way for the Pioneers with her sixth double-double of the season on 13 kills and 12 digs.
Gaby Zovko came very close to recording a double-double with 25 assists and nine digs, in addition to her six kills and four blocks.
Eliana Rodgers set a pair of new career highs with 10 digs and seven kills.
Cristina Montanez also tallied a stellar stat line in the sweep, finishing with six kills and six blocks while hitting a stellar .667.
