The sophomore collected the NEC’s highest weekly honor after triple-double on Saturday
SOMERSET, N.J. – Fitting that after recording the first triple-double of her career this week, Sacred Heart University women's basketball standout Ny'Ceara Pryor earned her third consecutive Northeast Conference (NEC) Player of the Week award, as she was tabbed Co-Player of the Week on Monday.
The Pioneers suffered a pair of excruciating overtime setbacks this week, falling to Fairfield (66-61) on Wednesday and Bryant (74-71) on Saturday. SHU battled tough late in both contests before late runs in overtime sealed wins for the Stags and Bulldogs.
Pryor's growing list of weekly honors now includes five NEC Player of the Week nods to go along with 13 NEC Rookie of the Week accolades.
Pryor led the Pioneers in points (25.5), rebounds (9.0), assists (6.5) and steals per game (4.0) over the two games last week. She went 18-for-40 (45.0%) from the field and was a perfect 15-for-15 at the line. The Baltimore, Md., native first scored 26 points, one shy of her career high, with seven rebounds, three assists and five steals in Wednesday's OT setback against Fairfield. She followed that up with the second triple-double in program history with 25 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists at Bryant.
The Pioneers return to the Pitt Center for a home clash against NJIT on Wednesday, Dec. 6. Tipoff for the non-conference clash is set for 7 p.m.
