
Pioneers Take Third at Crimson 7s Tournament

SHU opened the spring season at Harvard
CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—The Sacred Heart women's rugby team opened the spring portion of their schedule at the Crimson 7s Tournament at Harvard University, on Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers finished third overall in the tournament.
Game One – SHU 32, Northeastern 0
The Pioneers opened the competition with a 34-0 shutout over Northeastern. Sacred Heart had two players with a pair of tries, Avonlea Wood, and Fabiola Millien-Faustin. Alyssa Cunningham and Jasmin Quinones both added one each for SHU. Cunningham was 1 of 4 on conversions and Samantha McGann was 0-2.
Game Two- SHU 12, Brown 17
After a dominating performance over Northeastern, the Pioneers took on Brown next and fell 17-12 in the second game of the afternoon.
Millien-Faustin and Nicole Kimball both recorded tries for the Pioneers. Cunningham went 1-1 on conversions and added an assist during the game, and McGann was 1-0 on her conversions.
Game Three – SHU 19, Quinnipiac 12
Sacred Heart finished the day with a 19-12 victory over Quinnipiac to claim third place in the Crimson 7s Tournament.
Three different Pioneers scored tries in the victory. Wood, Kenzie Riccardi, and Millien-Faustin all recorded tries, and Kimball went 2-3 on conversions as the Pioneers secured the win.

The Pioneers will be back in action next Sunday, April 2nd, at the American International College 7s Tournament.
