Henke Collects Second Rookie of the Week Award

SOMERSET, N.J. – For the second time this season, Sacred Heart University softball first year Nicole Henke was named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week, as she was tabbed Co-Rookie of the Week on Tuesday afternoon.
Henke tallied a .417/.533/.750 slash line over her four appearances this past week with two runs and a team-leading three RBI. The Carlstadt, N.J., native tallied a hit in three of her four games, including two multi-hit outings.
The highlight of Henke's week came in SHU's series finale against FDU on Sunday when she went 2-for-3 at the plate with a two-run homer. In addition to hitting her fourth home run of the season, she tallied an RBI single for her fourth three-RBI outing.
Henke shared today's honor with Saint Francis' Madelyn Wilson, who is receiving her first NEC Rookie of the Week nod.
The Pioneers hit the field again on Wednesday, March 29, for a home doubleheader against Siena. The opening game of the twin bill against the Saints is slated for 2 p.m. at Pioneer Park.
