SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Cameron Croce placed fourth place in the hammer throw to lead the Sacred Heart University men's track and field team after day one of the Black & Gold Invitational, hosted by Bryant.
The Pioneers sit in a tie for seventh place with five points after the meet's opening day. SHU is tied with Siena after day one, which featured the shot put, hammer throw, and 10,000 meters.
Croce tallied all five points for the Pios today after recording a throw of 54.70m to take fourth. The graduate student also competed in the shot put and finished 10th with a mark of 13.57m.
Aidan Glennon and
Daniel Blatman also tallied top-20 outings today. Glennon posted a new outdoor PR toss of 12.98m in the shot put to take 16th. Blatman also finished 16th in the hammer throw with a mark of 44.00m.
Benjamin Healy and
Cole Decusati set new outdoor personal records today in the shot put, hitting 10.52m and 10.34m, respectively. Decusati also set a new PR with a throw of 35.27m in the hammer.
Because of the forecasted rain on Saturday, the Pioneers return to the track for day two of the Black & Gold Invitational on Sunday, Apr. 2.
