Fairfield, Conn – The Pioneers earned six Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Performer of the Week honors. On the men's side,
Lance Hayes was named Track Performer of the Week,
Benjamin Cicchitelli earned Field Performer of the Week honors, and
Michael Maresca was recognized as Rookie of the Week. On the women's side,
Sierra Thompson was named Track Performer of the Week,
Kaitlyn Caraco earned Field Performer of the Week honors, and
Alivia Schweibinz was selected as Rookie of the Week.
This past weekend, Hayes broke a program record that he actually set just last season. He claimed victory in the 600-meter event after clocking a time of 1:20.82.
First year, Cicchitelli set a new personal best in the shot put event with a mark of 14.78 meters, good for a sixth-place finish among 67 athletes.
First year, Maresca competed in his first event of the indoor track season this past weekend. He placed fourth out of 63 athletes in the mile run, with a time of 4:20.94.
Thompson earned her second weekly award of the season following a program-record performance this past weekend. She clocked a time of 40.04 seconds in the 300-meter event, breaking a record that had stood for nearly ten years.
Caraco delivered a standout performance in the high jump this past weekend, matching her personal best at 1.68 meters and earning a second-place finish among 30 competitors.
First year, Schweibinz competed in her first collegiate 3000-meter event this past weekend. She finished with a time of 10:04.04 which was good enough to finish fourth out of 32 athletes.
