Staten Island, N.Y. – The Sacred Heart University men's track and field team delivered a strong performance on Friday, December 12, recording four top-five finishes at the Wagner College Seahawk Shootout.
The Pioneer's performance was headlined by
Lance Hayes, a graduate student who took home first place in the 600-meter run. Hayes' overall time was 1:20.82, which was good enough for a program record.
Another program record was broken in the 4x200-meter relay, as
DeRonn Adams,
Colin Brown,
Damon Wilson, and
Gavin Alvarez posted a time of 1:28.58 to earn a second-place finish.
First-year
Michael Maresca also impressed on the track, finishing fourth in the mile run with a time of 4:20.94.
The field events were headlined by sophomore
Benjamin Mandler, who placed second overall in the pole vault with a clearance of 4.20 meters.
