
Pioneers Season Concludes at NCAA Regional Day Two

Sacred Heart fell to North Carolina A&T
ROCHESTER, N.Y.—The Sacred Heart University bowling team's season has come to an end at the Rochester Regional in the first round of the NCAA tournament. The Pioneers went 1-2 on the day against North Carolina A&T.
Sacred Heart opened the morning with a 1,072-952 victory in the traditional format. The Pioneers had four bowlers score over 200 in the victory as SHU took a 1-0 lead. Senior Hannah Manetta and sophomore Nancy Kohut both led the way with 235, sophomore Rachel Glowniak scored 220, and sophomore Molly Chiesa scored 202.
Up next was a quint baker match, where North Carolina A&T was able to tie things up 1-1. The Pioneers fell 1,010-976 and would have to play a best-of-seven baker match, where the winner would advance to the regional final.
North Carolina A&T was able to secure the win going 4-1 in the best-of-seven baker match knocking down 1,088 pins to the Pioneers' 952. NCAT clinched the 2-1 victory over Sacred Heart and advanced to the regional final against Arkansas State.
Sacred Heart wraps up its season as the 2023 Northeast Conference Champions in back-to-back fashion, made the program's ninth appearance in the NCAA tournament, and finished with a 60-39 record. Manetta and Megan Prettyman collected All-NEC honors, and Glowniak was the MVP of the NEC Bowling Championship.
