Prestipino grabs top-70 finish in largest meet of the season to date

HOPKINTON, N.H. — Giovanni Prestipino grabbed his first, top team finish of the 2024 season as the Sacred Heart University men's cross country team competed at the 112^th annual New England Cross Country Championships on Friday afternoon.

Prestipino grabbed SHU's highest placement in the eight kilometer course, crossing the finish line in 26:06.4 which was good for a new season-best. Following Prestipino, Matthew Vene and Michael Mason grabbed second and third for the Pios, finishing in 78^th and 86^th overall with Vene grabbing a new, season-best time of 26:23.14 in the race.

Standout first year Demetri Franzese and junior Owen Delisle rounded out the top-five finishers for the Pios, finishing just outside of the top-100 as the two harriers finished alongside each other. First year's Anthony Esposito and Patrick Devine came in for reserve scoring, finishing with respectable times as the Pios took a 14^th place team finish in one of the season's larget meets.
