Swim and Dive Fall to Wagner and Iona on the Road

SHU swept both diving events
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The Sacred Heart University swim and dive team dropped double-dual to Wagner and Iona Saturday at Iona 129-110 and 123-118, respectively.
First year Sinclair Yadao improved on her scores and won both the 1M and 3M board with scores of 236.75 and 253.30, respectively.
First year Phifey Boyers placed second in the 1M and now is fourth all-time at SHU with a score of 235.05. Boyers also collected second in the 3M with a score of 244.50.
Senior Lola Barrett completed the SHU sweep securing third in the 1M and 3M boards.
Charlotte Kaduson got things started on the swimming portion of the meet securing third in the 1000-freestyle.
Sophia Velleco led the Pioneers collecting three second place finishes in the 200-freestyle, 200-butterfly and 500-freestyle.
Senior Melanie Sanchez was shortly behind Velleco placing third in the 200-butterfly with a time of 2:12.34.
Pacing the Pios in the 200 IM was Daniella Palamaro finishing third with a time of 2:16.24.
Meghan Hammarlund led SHU in the 200-backstroke finishing second with a time of 2:11.53.
Also finishing second was senior Rosemery Nieto in the 200-breaststroke in a time of 2:27.86.
SHU battled closely with the Gaels leaving the winner of the meet up to the result of the final relay.

SHU heads to Stony Brook next weekend, October 26, to face the Sea Wolves at noon.
