
Women's Volleyball Wins Three MAAC Weekly Accolades

Luginbuhl, Zovko and Villarreal were all recognized today
EDISON, N.J. – The Sacred Heart University women's set records and earned a pair of sweeps this past weekends, earning a trio of Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) weekly honors today in recognition of their impressive play.
Camryn Luginbuhl, Gaby Zovko and Millani Villarreal were all recognized by the MAAC this week. Luginbuhl was named the Jersey Mike's Player of the Week, while Zovko was tabbed the Setter of the Week and Villarreal the Rookie of the Week.
The Pioneers continue to add to their impressive haul, as the team has won a combined 15 awards from the conference already. SHU walked away with today's honors after defeating then second-place Rider on Saturday in four sets and Saint Peter's in three sets on Sunday. The Pios improved to a perfect 3-0 at home with the wins.
Luginbuhl, a senior outside hitter, was outstanding for the Pioneers this weekend, breaking individual program records and helping break team records. She finished the weekend with 44 kills (6.29/set), 47.0 points, 23 digs (3.29/set) and .402 hitting percentage. On Saturday, she broke the four-set program records for kills (30) and points (30.0) in the win over Rider. The team tied the four-set program record for kills with 73. Luginbuhl then racked up 14 kills and nine digs, hitting .414 against Saint Peter's. She helped the team hit a season-best .376 against the Peacocks.
Sophomore standout Zovko recorded 74 assists (10.57/set), 19 kills (2.71/set) and 17 digs (2.43/set) in a 2-0 week for the Pioneers. The sophomore setter first tallied a 51-assist, 10-kill, 10-dig triple-double in four sets against Rider. She helped the team tie the four-set program record with 69 assists against the Broncs. Zovko followed that up with 23 assists, nine kills and seven digs against of Saint Peter's.
Villarreal tallied 32 digs (4.57/set) and 22 assists (3.14/set) in a 2-0 weekend for the Pioneers. The first year libero first tallied 22 digs and 11 assists in a four-set win over Rider on Saturday. She was a key contributor to the Pios tying the four-set program for assists with 69 against the Broncs. Villarreal then racked up 10 digs and 11 assists in a sweep of Saint Peter's on Sunday.
