Women's Volleyball Falls in Four to Fairfield

Zovko (28A, 11K) tallied a double-double in the loss
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University women's volleyball team suffered a four-set setback to Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) leading Fairfield on Wednesday evening at the Pitt Center.
Leading the way for SHU was Gaby Zovko with a 28-assist, 11-kill double-double. Camryn Luginbuhl also had a stellar outing, tallying 17 kills with a .163 hitting percentage. Miliani Villarreal led the defense with a match-high 16 digs.

How It Happened:
The Stags opened the first set with a 7-2 lead before SHU answered with a 5-0 run to even the score at 7-7. Fairfield again started to build its advantage with a 10-3 surge to go up 17-10. The Stags did not take their feet off the gas, sealing a 25-16 win.
Sacred Heart took control in the second, going up 13-7 early. The Stags fought back to tie the score at 19-all, but a well-time 6-3 run by the home team propelled them to a 25-22 victory in the frame.
Unfortunately for SHU, Fairfield took the match with strong third and fourth sets. The Stags won the third 25-16 and the fourth 25-15 to remain perfect in the MAAC at 12-0.

The Pioneers are back at home on Saturday, Nov. 2, to play Quinnipiac at 1 p.m.
