Villarreal Wins Seventh Libero of the Week Nod

The Murrieta, Calif. native won nine weekly honors

EDISON, N.J. – For the third straight week and seventh time this season, Sacred Heart University women's volleyball standout Miliani Villarreal collected Jersey Mike's Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Libero of the Week honors.

For the season, the Pioneers have won 17 weekly awards, with Villarreal leading the way with nine wins. The first year is a seven-time Libero of the Week and two-time Rookie of the Week.

Villarreal tallied a team-leading 54 digs (4.50/set) and 17 assists (1.42/set) in a 2-1 week for the Pioneers. She started the week with 16 digs and seven assists in four sets against Fairfield. Villarreal then helped lead the Pioneers to a pair of important MAAC victories, first tallying 23 digs and eight assists against Quinnipiac, the second-ranked team in the league. She capped her week with 15 digs in a four-set win at Merrimack on Sunday.

Sacred Heart is back at the Pitt Center on Saturday, Nov. 9, to play Niagara at 6 p.m.
