
Women’s Volleyball Places Four on CSC Academic All-District Teams

Harrell, Luginbuhl, Montanez and Gaby Zovko all earned today’s honor

FAIRFIELD, Conn – After excelling both in the classroom and on the court, four members of the Sacred Heart University women's volleyball team were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team, announced on Tuesday afternoon.
The four SHU players recognized were Lauren Harrell, Camryn Luginbuhl, Cristina Montanez and Gaby Zovko. Luginbuhl earned this honor last season, while Harrell, Montanez and Zovko all walked away with this award for the first time.
Harrell had a breakout season for the Pioneers in 2024, tallying 100 kills (0.94/set) and 48.0 blocks (0.45/set). She appeared in all but one match this season, starting six of them. The junior from Bedford, Mass., is a Management major and owns cumulative GPA of 3.85.
Luginbuhl, a senior captain, has had one of the best campaigns in program history, as she broke the single-season program record in kills with 515. The First Team All-MAAC honoree led the conference in kills, kills per set (4.44), points (572.0) and points per set (4.91). She was also a five-time MAAC Player of the Week. The Tolland, Conn., native owns a 3.93 cumulative GPA as a Communication Disorders major.
Montanez, a junior captain, appeared in all 31 matches this year, starting in all but one of them. She stood as one of the most feared middles in the MAAC, ranking third in the league with 1.04 blocks per set and fourth with 117 total blocks. In addition to tallying a career-high in blocks, she also set new career marks with 125 kills and 1.11 kills per set. As an Accounting major, Montanez has a GPA of 3.80.
Zovko, who was also an All-MAAC First Teamer, has been one of the most versatile players in the country, winning MAAC Setter of the Week five times. The sophomore setter from Bedford, Mass., paced the MAAC in aces (60), while ranking third in assists (960) and assists per set (8.28). Academically, Zovko has a 3.66 GPA as a Psychology major.
