FAIRFIELD, Conn.— The Sacred Heart University men's basketball team will travel to Oxford, Ohio, to take on Miami University on Sunday, December 22, at 1:00 pm to continue non-conference play.

Opening Tip:
- Sacred Heart and Miami University meet for the first time on Sunday, the first time in program history that SHU will face a MAC opponent.
- The Pioneers will play their second consecutive non-conference game after opening Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) action with a 1-1 record.
- Sacred Heart is coming off a 74-66 loss to UAlbany at home on Wednesday. After missing three straight games, Tanner Thomas returned to the starting lineup and led the team in scoring (16 pts) and rebounds (9).
- Three Pioneers are averaging double figures: Thomas (12.8), Amiri Stewart (12.6), and Anquan Hill (12.0).

- Sacred Heart returns three active members from last year's team: Thomas, who made nine appearances before missing the remainder of the season with an injury. Raymond Espinal-Guzman, a redshirt junior forward who appeared in 24 games last season, and Aidan Carpenter, a redshirt junior guard who made 30 appearances with 16 starts.
- Thomas was named to the All-MAAC preseason third team.
- Johnson returns to Sacred Heart after a year at Northeastern.
- This year is Sacred Heart's first season as a full-time member of the MAAC.
- The Pioneers have 10 new players on the team.
- Head Coach Anthony Latina is in his 12th season as head coach and 20th year overall with the Pioneers.

- After opening MAAC play going 1-1, Sacred Heart fell to UAlbany at home on Wednesday, 74-66 in non-conference action.
- Thomas was the Pioneers' leading scorer (16) and rebounder (9). Nyle Ralph-Beyer added 13 points and Bryce Johnson scored 10 points in the loss.
- Sacred Heart led 34-30 in the first half, but The Great Danes outscored SHU 44-32 in the second half to come from behind and take the win.
About the RedHawks:
- Miami is 6-4 on the season and has yet to start conference play. The Redhawks were selected sixth in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Preseason Poll.
- Peter Suder leads the team in points with 15.6, followed by Kam Craft (15.3), and Eian Elmer with 13.8.
- Antwone Woolfolk is the team leader in rebounds with 6.3.
- Miami is coming off a 75-67 road loss to Vermont on Wednesday. The RedHawks will begin MAC play on Saturday, January 4, vs Buffalo.
