FAIRFIELD, Conn. – After a challenging month on the road, the Sacred Heart University women's wrestling team showcased their resilience by competing for the first time inside the newly renovated Pitt Center on Saturday afternoon. 
 
The Pioneers held off East Stroudsburg University, 24-21, behind key wins from Lauren Nguyen (11), Nohea Moniz (117), Alexandra Fitzgerald (124), Madison Sandquist (180), and Madeline Hodges (207), before shutting down Lehigh University, 26-18, despite the Mountain Hawks battle back to within single digits, to cap the afternoon.
 
Notables:

• The women's wrestling program came together in a heartwarming display of unity earlier this afternoon as the team unveiled its 2023-24 NCWWC Regional Championship banner.
• Moniz, Fitzgerald, and Hodges finished the dual meet with an overall record of 2-0.
• Ahsia Torres, Aaliyah Payne-Parris, Jacklyn Smith, Nguyen, and Sandquist each concluded the day with a personal victory, adding to the team's success. 
• SHU finished the day with three pins, two from Hodges at 207 and one from Sandquist against ESU's Jade Huerta at 180.
