CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The Sacred Heart University women's wrestling team opened day one of the 2026 NWCA/USMC Multi-Division National Dual Meet Championships with two strong victories, defeating Fort Hays State University and Gannon, while also facing a challenging test against top-ranked No. 1 Iowa.

The Pioneers began the day with a 28–20 win over Fort Hays State before falling 39–3 to the nationally dominant Hawkeyes. Sacred Heart rebounded in its final dual of the day, securing a 33–12 victory over Gannon to close out day one on a high note.

Sacred Heart returns to action tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. with a dual match against Lindenwood, and the opportunity to finish as high as fifth overall in the championship.

• Aaliyah Payne-Parris (103 lbs), Ahsia Torres (110 lbs), Love Daley (160 lbs), and Tilisa Matakaiongo (207 lbs) led the Pioneers on day one, each earning two victories. 
• Torres and Matakaiongo capped the day undefeated with 2–0 records.
• Rookie Josephine Larson delivered a highlight performance for Sacred Heart, notching the team's lone win in the Iowa dual match with a 5–2 decision over Libby Dix.
• Picking up a solo win this after was Tiffany Stoshak, Lauren Nguyen, Bella Sowards, Alena Gracia, and Larson.
