
SHU Shines in NEC Spring NEC Academic Honor Roll

Four Pioneers were named Spring Scholar-Athletes
BRIDGEWATER, N.J.—The Northeast Conference (NEC) debuted the spring All-Academic awards Monday afternoon. Sacred Heart University had 251 student-athletes named to the Academic Honor Roll, highlighted by a conference-best four Spring Scholar-Athletes.
Kovalchik ended his junior season as an All-NEC First Teamer and held a 3.97 GPA as a biology major in the classroom. SHU's starting center fielder appeared in 57 of the team's 58 games, including 56 starts, to log the most playing time of any Pioneer. Kovalchik put together a .315/.401/.514 slash line, good for a team-leading .915 OPS across 222 at-bats (70-for-222).
Lim continues to accumulate accolades in his final collegiate season, adding today's honor to winning NEC Golfer of the Year and being named Ping Division I All-Northeast Region. Lim maintained a team-best average score of 70.8 per round, winning twice and finishing in the top-10 in all but two events. Lim owned a 3.75 cumulative GPA as a Health Science - Healthcare Administration.
Rouquette, the 2024 NEC Golfer of the Year, capped an impressive senior campaign by winning medalist honors at the NEC Championship to help SHU win its third straight conference title. She finished second on the team with a 74.6 average, tallying two wins and seven top-10s. Rouquette graduated this spring with a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management, maintaining a 3.70 GPA.
Starastsenka led the NEC with 21 wins in singles play, going 21-4 at the No. 1 spot on her way to being named NEC Player of the Year. In doubles, she went 13-4 paired with Kim Fenton as the team's No. 1 team. She was named First Team All-NEC in both singles and doubles. She ranked 19th in the ITA DI New England Region in singles. She is the first player from the women's tennis program to be ranked in the final rankings. Academically, she maintained an outstanding cumulative GPA as a Finance major.
