Mason and Franzese tag team top finish for SHU

MONTGOMERY, N.Y. — Michael Mason's top-30 finish headlined a solid overall performance from the Sacred Heart University men's cross country team as it completed competition at the Manhattan University Jasper Fall XC Invitational on Saturday morning. The Pios grabbed eighth place out of 13 teams through the eight kilometer course.

For a consecutive race weekend, sophomore Michael Mason was the top finisher for the Pios, grabbing a time of 26:02 to place inside the top-30 finishers during the race. First year Demetri Franzese placed second for the Red & White, following up his third-place outing two weeks ago by placing in the top-two for the Pios for the first time this season with a time of 26:44). Racing side-by-side with Franzese, Matthew Vene placed third for the Pios and 57^th overall, finishing just one second behind the first year harrier.

Anthony Esposito and Owen Delisle grabbed scoring performances for the Pios, grabbing 81^st and 82^ndoverall, respectively, finishing the course in under 28 minutes to propel SHU into its eighth-place showing.
