Men's Cross Country Grabs Third at Bear Invitational

Three place inside top-30 for SHU's best finish of 2024

ATTLEBORO, Mass. — Matthew Vene's top-25 finish provided support as three, top-30 finishes propelled the Sacred Heart Univeristy men's cross country team to a third place team finish at the Brown University Bear Invitational on Saturday morning.

Vene, who grabbed his first top team finish of the season, took on the eight kilometer course with purpose, finishing near a season-best with a time of 27:00.82 which placed him 21^st overall. Following Vene, Demetri Franzese and Giovanni Prestipino finished in order with a pack of harriers just over the 27 minute mark to finish inside the top 30. Anthony Esposito grabbed a scoring placement for SHU with a finishing time of 27:40.65 while Owen Delisle grabbed a fifth-place team finish with a time of 27:56.81

Patrick Devine had a solid raceday as well, taking 47^th overall with a time of 28:10.99 while Colin Trolio rounded out the potential scorers for SHU, finishing in 67^th overall as the Pios grabbed third place in team scoring.
