DOVER, Del. – Maya Robilio dominated the individual competition at the Battle at the Creek, winning medalist honors to help the Pioneers finish in a tie for third place at the event.
SHU carded a team score of 959 (+107), finishing in a tie with Bucknell. The Pios tallied a 320 (+36) in round three on Tuesday after recording rounds of 315 and 324 in the opening 36 holes. Mount St. Mary's won the team crown in a tightly-contested field, finishing with a 954 (+102).
Robilio won her second medalist honor at the event, also doing so last season at the SHU Spring Break Invitational. The senior finished the tournament with a 14-over 227, lapping the field by seven strokes. Robilio was the lone golfer at the event to post three rounds of 77 or better, carding score of 74, 77 and 76.
Jensie Nicholas and
Nahia Paulerena also finished in the top 10 in T7th and T10th, respectively. Nicholas posted a final score of 238 (+25), while Paulerena was one stroke behind at 239 (+26).
Jessie Burch,
Maite Cantu and
Lauren Ogrodowicz also finished one stroke apart. Burch and Cantu were tied for 27th with a score of 251 (+38), while Ogrodowicz tied for 29th with a score of 252 (+39).
Rounding out SHU's golfers at the tournament were
Emma Preissing and
Ashley Moynahan in T44th and 47th, respectively.
The Pioneers begin the two-day Red Bandanna Invitational, hosted by Boston College, on Monday, Sept. 23, at the Blue Hills Country Club in Milton, Mass.
