MILTON, Mass. – The Sacred Heart University women's golf team placed fifth after the final round of the Red Bandanna Invitational Tuesday, hosted by Boston College at the Blue Hills Country Club on Monday in Milton, Mass.
The Pioneers (310-312-312) finished with a combined score of 934 (+70) to finish fifth out of 15 teams at the two-day event. SHU was just five strokes from tying second-place Quinnipiac at 929 (+65). Boston College won its home event dominantly at 883 (+19).
Three Pioneers finished tied for the team lead in ninth place.
Nahia Paulerena,
Maya Robilio and
Maite Cantu all ended the tournament with a score of 231 (+15). Paulerena led the Pios after yesterday's action, while Cantu was the team's biggest riser today after climbing eight spots to get into the top 10.
Jessie Burch,
Jensie Nicholas and
Lauren Ogrodowicz were SHU's final three competitors. Burch led the trio in T46th with a score of 243 (+27). Nicholas (+35) and Ogrodowicz (+38) finished three strokes apart in 67th and T72nd.
Sacred Heart will have three days off before beginning the Navy Fall Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 28, at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Club in Annapolis, Md.
