Fairfield, Conn. – Junior goalkeeper
Kyran Thievon of the Sacred Heart University women's soccer team was named this week's Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Defensive Player of the Week on Monday for the third time this season.
Thievon has been playing at a high level all year, and this past week was no different. The Pioneer goalkeeper posted back-to-back clean sheets, marking her fifth and sixth shutouts of the year. Her performance lowered her goals-against average to an impressive 0.78. Across the two matches, Thievon tallied eight total saves and improved her record to 8-3-1, leading the team to 2-0 victories over Merrimack and Niagara.
This week, Thievon will look to continue her impressive play as the Pioneers host two conference games, first, Iona on Wednesday, and then Quinnipiac on Saturday, who sits third in the MAAC standings just two points behind the Pios.
