How it Happened:
The Pioneers struck first in the 19th minute, cashing in on a corner kick from
Lindsay McShea. McShea sent a soaring ball into the center of the box, where Burnett timed her jump perfectly to head the ball off the right post into the back of the net. The goal is Burnett's second of the season.
Some quick passing from Yale led to the visitors evening the score at 1-1 in the 58th minute. Karoline Hernes passed first to JoJo DeNegri in the box, where she didn't hesitate to slide the ball to Vienna Lundstedt in the center for a right-footed strike.
SHU wasted no time answering, taking a 2-1 lead in the 61st minute. After a free kick bounced around on the Pios' offensive end, Burnett corralled the ball and sent it back into the box.
Morgan Bovardi touched it next, tipping it towards goal with her head as
Shea Kelleher finished the chance with a goal to the bottom left corner. Burnett tallied the first three-point game of her career.
Sacred Heart held strong over the final 29 minutes, withstanding a few Bulldog pushes to seal the home win.
Kyran Thievon made a key save in the final minute, finishing with seven stops in her ninth win of the season. Another key save came from
Victoria Constantine in the 80th minute, as she headed a clear Yale goal over the top of the cage.
