Women's Ice Hockey Drops Game One at Saint Anselm, 4-1

Carroll scored her third goal of the season

MANCHESTER, N.H. –  The Sacred Heart University women's ice hockey team fell on the road to Saint Anselm College, 4-1, in a hard-fought battle in New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) action.

How it Happened:
  • The Pioneers came out strong in the opening period, controlling puck possession and firing 15 shots on goal compared to Saint Anselm's 13. Sacred Heart earned three early power-play chances but couldn't capitalize, as Saint Anselm's goaltender saved several Sacred Heart opportunities.
  • In the second period, the Hawks struck first on the power play to take a 1–0 lead before adding another shortly after.
  • The Pioneers responded midway through the frame when Shae Carroll found the back of the net. Carroll's goal came on the power play off assists from Ally Cohen and Sami Bowlby, cutting the deficit to 3–1 and giving Sacred Heart much-needed momentum heading into the final period
  • Sacred Heart continued to pressure in the third, outshooting Saint Anselm 13–4 and creating multiple scoring chances. Despite their strong offensive push and several quality looks on power plays, the Pioneers couldn't break through as Saint Anselm sealed the game with another late goal.
