BOSTON – After an outstanding opening month to start his senior season, Sacred Heart University men's ice hockey captain
Mikey Adamson was named the Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) Defenseman of the Month for October, as announced by the league on Monday morning.
Adamson collects his first Player of the Month nod, as he is a two-time AHA Defenseman of the Week. The early-season success is no shock for the Quincy, Mass., native, as Adamson came into the year as a member of the Preseason All-AHA Team.
One month into the season, Adamson leads SHU defensemen with five points on one goal and four assists, the latter pacing the team. The senior also owns 11 blocks. Adamson has been integral to SHU ranking 15th in the country and leading the AHA in scoring defense, with just 2.14 goals allowed per game.
Adamson scored his goal in SHU's 6-1 win over RIT on Oct. 11 to help the Pios secure a weekend sweep of the Tigers. He also assisted on both goals in SHU's 2-1 overtime win at No. 14/15 Ohio State on Oct. 24.
For the first time in three weeks, the Pioneers return home to the Martire Family Arena for a weekend series against Air Force. The first game of the weekend is slated for Friday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m.
