LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – The Sacred Heart University women's swimming and diving team turned in another strong performance on the road, splitting a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC)  tri-meet against Rider University and Siena College on Friday and Saturday. The Pioneers defeated Siena, 194-103, while narrowly falling to Rider, 172-127.

Leading the way for the Pios were a trio of double winners. Sophia Velleco dominated in the pool with victories in the 200 Butterfly (2:08.12) and 500 Freestyle (5:11.13). Maddie Goret added two first-place finishes of her own, touching first in the 100 Backstroke (59.08) and 200 Individual Medley (2:11.64). On the boards, Ryleigh Mahoney impressed yet again with wins on both the 1-meter (263.85) — the third-best mark in program history — and 3-meter (251.30) events.

Other strong performances came from Charlotte Kaduson, who placed second in the 1000 Freestyle (10:52.67), and Maggie Holland, who earned third in both the 100 Breaststroke (1:08.40) and 200 IM (2:13.91). Kara Leahy contributed valuable points on the diving side, taking third on the 1-meter and second on the 3-meter boards. Goret also added a runner-up finish in the 200 Breaststroke (2:27.50) to cap a standout weekend.

Sacred Heart will be back in action on Saturday November 22nd at 12pm when they return home to the McCann Natatorium to face non-conference opponent University of Bridgeport and MAAC opponents Saint Peter's University and Merrimack College.
