Staten Island, N.Y. – The Sacred Heart University women's track and field team delivered an outstanding performance on Friday, December 12, recording 15 top-five finishes at the Wagner College Seahawk Shootout.
The Pioneers shined on both the track and the field. First-year
Emma Daley led the way on the track, placing second overall in the mile run with a time of 5:08.91. On the field side, sophomore
Suzan Adekunle paced the Pioneers with a third-place finish in the weight throw with a mark of 16.38 meters and another third-place showing in the shot put with a mark of 12.29 meters.
Sophomore
Sierra Thompson added to the strong performance for the Pioneers, setting a new program record in the 300-meter dash with a time of 40.04.
In the 1,000-meter run, first-years
Catherine Wiley and
Molly Logan both finished within the top five. Wiley posted a time of 3:10.25, while Logan followed closely with a final time of 3:12.29.
The Pioneers led the way in the high jump, as
Lauryn Piccirelli and
Kaitlyn Caraco finished first and second overall, each clearing a height of 1.68 meters.

The Pioneers will head into winter break before returning to action on Saturday, January 10, at the United States Military Academy (USMA) West Point Open in West Point, New York.
