New Haven, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University women's track and field team turned in a strong performance at the Yale University Season Opener on Saturday, December 6, highlighted by two event wins and a plethora of top-five finishes.
The Pioneers claimed first place in both the 5000m and 800m events. First-year standout
Alivia Schweibinz won the 5000m with a time of 18:02.28, while senior
Emily Raymond secured the top spot in the 800m, finishing in 2:24.85.
The Pios dominated the 3000m, placing eight runners inside the top ten. It was one of several events that highlighted Sacred Heart's depth and consistency, as the team delivered strong performances on the track throughout the day.
On the field side, the Pioneers saw their strongest results in the pole vault and triple jump, securing second-place finishes in both events. Junior
Annalise Nassy placed second in the triple jump with an impressive mark of 11.71m, while graduate student
Jenna Engels earned a share of second place in the pole vault.
