Fairfield, Conn – The Pioneers earned two Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Performer of the Week honors, as
Sierra Thompson was named Field Performer of the Week and
Ariyana Jackson secured Track Performer of the Week.
Thompson, a sophomore, opened her season strong with a second-place finish at the 30th Annual URI Pentathlon, competing against 22 athletes. Her standout event was the long jump, where she took first place with a leap of 5.82 meters. She also excelled in the high jump, finishing second with a mark of 1.62 meters.
Jackson, a junior, also opened her season on a high note, placing fifth in the women's 60m hurdles finals at the Yale University Season Opener. She crossed the finish line in an impressive 8.89 seconds, coming within just 0.3 seconds of the fourth-place finisher.
