Women’s Golf Takes Sixth at Rutgers Invitational

The Pioneers will have off until the MAAC Championship on Apr 17

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Sacred Heart University women's golf team climbed one spot on the final leaderboard on Sunday at the Rutgers Invitational to finish sixth at the 54-hole event, which was hosted at Rutgers' Golf Course in Piscataway, N.J.

SHU finished the tournament with a team score of 921 (+69) after rounds of 316, 310 and 295, the latter trailing just the winning Scarlet Knights for the best round of the day. Rutgers claimed the win with a combined score of 881 (+29). The event featured five Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) programs, with the Pios besting Merrimack (9th), Fairfield (15th) and Siena (14th), while Quinnipiac took fourth.

Maya Robilio led the Pioneers with a top-five finish, climbing nine spots to tie for fifth with a final score of 225 (+12). Robilio opened the tournament with a 75 (+4) and a 78 (+7) yesterday before having one of the best Sunday rounds with a one-over 72 today. 

Nahia Paulerena placed next for SHU in a tie for 18th. The first year from Anglet, France, carded identical rounds of 77 (+6) yesterday and a 75 (+4) for a combined score of 229 (+16). 

Maite Cantu and Jessie Burch were next on the leaderboard for SHU in T29th and T38th, respectively, climbing up the standings after yesterday. Cantu tallied a 19-over 232 (81-77-74) and Burch finished with a 22-over 235 (83-78-74). Jensie Nicholas marked the Pios' final competitor in T58th. 

The Pioneers will next compete at the 2025 MAAC Championship, beginning Thursday, Apr. 17, at Disney's Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
