Brianna Cooper makes career-high 11 saves
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. — The Sacred Heart University field hockey team put together a strong defensive effort, including a career-high performance from junior goalkeeper Brianna Cooper, but came up short in a 2-0 setback at Hofstra on Sunday afternoon.

Brianna Cooper kept the Pioneers in the contest with 11 saves including six in a busy opening quarter where Hofstra fired 13 shots. The Sacred Heart defense held strong through the first half, sending the game into halftime tied 0-0.
The Pride broke through in the 41st minute on a goal from Gwenn van Dijk and doubled their advantage late in the fourth quarter when Teresa Karoff converted a penalty stroke.
Offensively, Sacred Heart generated by 10 shots on target, led by Blaire Sparks with three attempts and Hailey Vogt with two. Celia Benson, Bridget McLaughlin, Ines Braithwaite, and Cassie Chapjian each tallied a shot on goal for the Pioneers.
Sacred Heart earned five penalty corners in the second quarter but could not capitalize against Hofstra goalkeeper Luci Hollister, who made five saves in the shutout.
