Women's Golf Start Red Bandanna Invite in Eighth

Burch and Cantu lead the way for SHU

MILTON, Mass. – The Sacred Heart University women's golf team began the Red Bandanna Invitational, hosted by Boston College, in eighth place after the first two rounds Monday at the Blue Hills Country Club in Milton, Mass.

The Pios own a team score of 634 (+58) after rounds of 320 and 314. SHU is one stroke away from tying BU (+57) in seventh place and 10 strokes away from Butler (+48) in sixth. Dartmouth holds a healthy lead after the first 36 holes with a combined score of 588 (+12). 

The trio of Maite Cantu, Jessie Burch and Maegan Pungsuwan lead the Pioneers in T31st, T31st and T37th. Cantu and Burch own scores of 156 (+12) as both tallied strong round-two scores of 76 and 73, respectively. Pungsuwan went 77 and 80 for a combined score of 157 (+13). 

Garance Gueubel, Nahia Paulerena and Jade Haylock also finished clustered together in T65th, T65th and T72. Gueubel and Paulerena carded identical days of 167 (+23), while Haylock heads into tomorrow with a score of 174 (+30). 

The Red Bandanna Invitational rolls on tomorrow with the third round, teeing off at 8:30 a.m.
