Men’s Golf Ties for Second at SHU Fall Classic

Five Pioneers finished the event in the top 11
MILFORD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University men's golf team finished in a tie for second place at the SHU Fall Classic, which concluded this afternoon in challenging conditions at the Great River Golf Club in Milford, Conn.
The Pioneers finished with a team score of 876 (+12) following rounds of 284, 289 and 303. SHU tied Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) foe Fairfield. Rhode Island claimed the top team prize with a combined score of 872 (+8). Sacred Heart's second team had an outstanding third round, topping the first team by eight strokes with a 291 (+3). They climbed from 10th to sixth place in the final standings at +43.
Pablo Lacayo maintained his spot atop the Pios' standings with a final score of 213 (-3). The senior went 67, 70 and 76 to finish in third place, three strokes off participating in the playoff between Luke Stennett (URI) and Rasmus Ditzinger (Fairfield).
Yu Chan Ji Lim and Mike Rothberg placed next for SHU in a tie for sixth with scores of 219 (+3). Lim carded rounds of 72, 73 and 74, while Rothberg went 72, 72 and 75.
Quin Adams and Jon Bushka sat three strokes behind Lim and Rothberg at six-over 222 to tie for 11th. Bushka had one of the Pios' best rounds of today with a 73 (+1).
Sho Suzuki, Ronan Mooney and Alex Turlik all ended the event within one stroke of each other. Suzuki led the group in T19th at 226 (+10), while Mooney tied for 23rd at 227 (+11). Turlik had one of the best rounds of the day with a one-under 71, finishing in a tie for 27th at 228 (+12).
Charlie Gilligan (+15), Luciano Moratinos (+16), Robby Zyskowski III (+18), Jack Delaney (+20) and Leo Dixon (+30) concluded the Pioneers that competed this week. Gilligan and Delaney had standout rounds of 73 and 75, respectively.
SHU will next compete at the Ryan Lee Intercollegiate, which is slated to start on Monday, Sept. 22, at the Wethersfield Country Club in Wethersfield, Conn.
