Boston, Mass. – The Sacred Heart University men's track and field team turned in a strong performance on Sunday at the Suffolk University Relays. The Pioneers captured three event wins and recorded multiple top-five finishes overall.
First-year
Jordan Wilson captured the first event win of his collegiate career on Sunday morning. Competing in the 60m, Wilson posted a time of 6.93 seconds, finishing 0.08 seconds ahead of the runner-up.
Graduate student
Rafael Mahario claimed the win in the 200m dash, finishing with a time of 22.00 seconds to give the Pioneers their second event victory of the day. Wilson followed closely behind in second place, continuing his strong performance after capturing the 60m earlier in the meet.

Gavin Alvarez, and
Joshua Voorhees teamed up in the 4x400 relay and captured first place, giving the Pioneers their third event win of the day. The quartet crossed the line with a time of 3:20.44.
Another event the Pios dominated in was the 800m. Three Pioneers finished within the top five. Voorhees finished third,
Ryan Ober finished fourth, and Ryan Gaulraap finished fifth.

The Pioneers will be back in action next weekend on Saturday, January 24, as they take the short trip to New Haven, Connecticut, to compete in the Southern Connecticut State University William Sutherland III Invite.
