Winchendon, Mass. – The Sacred Heart University women's ice hockey team battled in an overtime thriller, but ultimately fell short to Franklin Pierce, 3-2, in a New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) matchup on Friday night.

How it Happened:
- The Pioneers came out of the gates strong, as Cohen found the back of the net less than one minute into the game off a feed from Koman. The Ravens answered later in the period to even the score at one. Both teams generated multiple offensive opportunities, but the game remained tied heading into the second period.
- The Pioneers entered the second period looking to replicate their fast start from the opening frame. Sacred Heart controlled the pace, firing 33 shots in the period, including 19 on goal, but was unable to break through. Franklin Pierce struck first in the period, while Petruno continued her strong play in net, stopping 10 of the 11 shots she faced. The score heading into the final period was 2-1
- Entering the third period, the Pios did everything they could to even the score, outshooting the Ravens 30–13 in the frame. Despite numerous chances, Sacred Heart was unable to capitalize until Addie Bowlby finally found the back of the net 18 minutes into the period off assists from LaRoche and Koman. The goal forced the game into overtime.
- The Ravens came out strong in the overtime period, generating 16 shots, including 12 on goal. Petruno stood tall, turning aside all but one attempt, but the lone goal proved to be enough as Franklin Pierce secured the 3–2 overtime victory.
