How it Happened:
Seton Hall came out looking to establish an early advantage, but the Pioneers kept the Pirates off the scoreboard through the opening half. Sacred Heart generated several chances of its own, with Almuzara and Morcillo each recording multiple shots during the match.
The Pirates eventually broke through in the 30th minute, as Knut Hannes-Simon Ottosson found the back of the net to give Seton Hall a 1-0 lead.
With the clock winding down in the opening half, the Pioneers pushed for an equalizer, and Brady Poor drew a foul inside the 18-yard box. The initial ruling was no call, but following a VAR review, Sacred Heart was awarded a penalty kick in the 45th minute. Marques stepped up to the spot and converted, leveling the match at 1-1 just before halftime. Guzik recorded two saves in the first half to keep the Pioneers in range.
After the break, Witt took over in goal for the Pioneers as both teams continued to battle for the go-ahead goal. Sacred Heart's defense held strong throughout the second half, keeping the Pirates off the scoreboard. Neither side was able to find the decisive goal before the final whistle, sending the Pioneers home with a 1-1 draw.
Sacred Heart finished the night with nine shots, just one fewer than Seton Hall's 10. The Pioneers also earned three corner kicks, while the Pirates recorded four.
