Women’s Golf in 13th after Opening Day of Columbia Classic

Cantu paces SHU in 43rd place
MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Sacred Heart University women's golf team sits in 13th place after the first two rounds of the Columbia Classic, hosted by Columbia in Melbourne, Fla.
The Pioneers started strong, carding a round-one score of 308 (+20), before a second-round 320 (+32) put them at 628 (+52) for the day. Dartmouth leads the field at -4, while Notre Dame is second at even par. Quinnipiac is the joins SHU from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), sitting in 11th.
Maite Cantu paces the Pioneers in a tie for 43rd, going 71 and 82 for a mark of 153 (+9). Cantu's -1 72 was tied for the fifth-best score in the opening round.
Maegan Pungsuwan is next on the leaderboard for the Pioneers in T53rd, just ahead of Jessie Burch in T58th and Garance Gueubel in 62nd. Pungsuwan owns a two-round score of 157 (81-76), while Burch went 80 and 79 for a 159. Gueubel openened with a 77 then carded an 83 to sit at 160.
Rounding out the Pios' competitors is Nahia Paulerena in T66th place.
The Pioneers will conclude the Columbia Classic tomorrow with round three. The final round will be streamed by the Championship Golf Network (CGN) on YouTube.
