Women’s Golf Opens Spring Slate with 13th-Place Finish at Columbia Classic

Cantu and Burch lead the way for SHU
MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Sacred Heart University women's golf team claimed 13th place at the Columbia Classic this weekend, hosted at the Duran Golf Club in Viera, Fla., in the team's first event of the spring in the 2025-26 season.
The Pioneers carded a 321 (+33) on Sunday to finish the event with a final score of 949 (+85). SHU tallied scores of 308 and 320 on Saturday.
Maite Cantu remained at the top of the leaderboard for the Pioneers, finishing in a tie for 52nd place. She added a Sunday 83 to rounds of 71 and 82 for a final mark of 236 (+20).
Jessie Burch climbed three spots on the leaderboard with a six-over 78 today. The senior ended the tournament with a final score of +21 (80-79-78).
Maegan Pungsuwan, Nahia Paulerena and Garance Gueubel rounded out SHU's competitors this weekend. Pungsuwan placed 59th with at +23, while Paulerena (+25) matched Burch today with a 78 to climb to T61st. Gueubel took T65th place at +29.
The Pioneers continue the spring slate on Monday-Tuesday, March 16-17, at the SHU Spring Break Invite at the Eagle Harbor GC in Orange Park, Fla.
