Women’s Golf Comes Back to Win SHU Spring Break Invite

Three Pios finished in the top 10, led by Burch in fourth
ORANGE PARK, Fla. – The Sacred Heart University women's golf team erased a six-stroke deficit to claim the win at the Sacred Heart Spring Break Women's Invite, hosted by the Pios at the Eagle Harbor Golf Club in Orange Park, Fla.
SHU sat in fourth place with a score of 306 (+28) after the first round yesterday, as the day was stopped after 18 holes due to inclement weather in the Sunshine State. However, the Pios turned on the gas in round two, firing a 309 (+21) to finish with a 615 (+39) to win by one stroke over Manhattan (+40). Fairfield was one stroke behind the Jaspers, while BU, Siena and Iona rounded out the field in fourth, fifth and sixth place, respectively.
Jessie Burch finished fourth on the leaderboard with a combined score of 151 (+7). She opened the event with a +3 75 yesterday and closed it today with a +4 76.
Maite Cantu was right behind her teammate in T5th. She had SHU's best round one score of 74 (+2), but a 78 (+6) shuffled down the leaderboard as she finished with a final score of 152 (+8).
Nahia Paulerena marked SHU's third and final competitor in the top 10, as she tied for ninth. She finished with a score of 155 (+11) after score of 78 and 77.
Garance Gueubel and Maegan Pungsuwan rounded out SHU's scoring five T15th and 26th, respectively. Gueubel finished with a 157 (+13), while Pungsuwan carded a 163 (+19).
As individuals, Morgan Withington in T29th and Jade Haylock in T35th concluded SHU's competitors in the event.
