Women's Golf Places Third at Kingsmill Intercollegiate

Burch led the Pios in 10th in the 91-person field
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Sacred Heart University women's golf team tallied its second straight top three showing by taking third at the Kingsmill Intercollegiate, hosted by William & Mary on Monday and Tuesday at the Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Va.
The Pioneers finished the three-round event with a score of 931 (+67) following rounds of 313, 310 and 308. SHU had the second-best round today and the third best in round two. Dartmouth claimed the team title at +21, clearing second-place Navy (+44) by 23 strokes.
Leading SHU was senior Jessie Burch in 10th place, her second straight top-10 performance. The Dublin, Calif., native finished with a 231 (+15), as her third-round 74 was the second-best among the field. She finished with a team-leading five birdies.
A trio of Pioneers finished next for SHU as Garance Gueubel, Maegan Pungsuwan and Maite Cantu all tied for 23rd place. All three posted scores of 236 (+20). Gueubel led the group today with a 76 (+4) to climb 15 spots on the final leaderboard.
Rounding out SHU's competitors today was Nahia Paulerena and Morgan Withington. Paulerena finished in a tie for 53rd and Withington was tie for 61st.
The Pios hit the course again on Saturday, March 28, for the Intercollegiate at Prospect Bay, hosted at the Prospect Bay Golf Club in Grasonville, Md.
