How It Happened:
The Pioneers set the tone early in the opening set, jumping out to a quick lead highlighted by a service ace from Aleksa Mandic. Sacred Heart maintained the advantage through the middle portion of the set as Petr Beranek and Zach Flynn contributed several key kills while Armaan Dosanjh distributed the offense effectively. Merrimack made a late push to close the gap, but Sacred Heart stayed composed down the stretch. Aaron Johnson delivered a key kill late to secure the 25–18 set victory and give the Pioneers the early match lead.
The second set proved to be the most competitive of the match, with both teams trading points and momentum throughout. Merrimack built a mid-set lead before Sacred Heart rallied behind kills from Mandic and Johnson to pull even. The teams continued to exchange points late, pushing the set beyond regulation. With the score tied in the closing moments, Mandic delivered consecutive kills off Dosanjh assists to seal a 28–26 win and put the Pioneers ahead two sets to none.
Sacred Heart carried that momentum into the third set, building an early cushion behind strong serving from Flynn and continued offensive production from Beranek and Johnson. The Pioneers maintained control throughout the frame while forcing several Merrimack errors and adding key blocks at the net. Sacred Heart steadily extended the lead before closing out the match with a 25–19 victory to complete the sweep.
