Kowalski Collects Another Pitcher of the Week Nod

The senior picked up two more conference wins over the week
EDISON, N.J. — For the second week in a row, Sacred Heart University softball senior Sam Kowalski was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Pitcher of the Week after picking up two more league wins.
Kowalski finished last week with a 1.71 ERA and a 2-2 record in five appearances. She struck out 25 batters and posted three complete games in 28.2 innings. Kowalski started the week by holding Harvard to three earned runs while striking out four batters in 7.0 innings.
Kowalski was then the credited as the winner in both games of SHU's sweep of Manhattan on Saturday. She started the day by not allowing her first hit until one out in the bottom of the seventh in game one, striking out eight batters in a 1-0 win in eight innings. She followed that up by getting the win with 3.2 innings of scoreless ball in a comeback 8-6 victory in the nightcap. She also pitched all 6.0 innings for SHU in a close 4-3 loss to the Jaspers on Sunday.
The Pios host Yale for a nonconference doubleheader tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Pioneer Park.
